Literature Text
she was a vicious prion,
anomalous & infectious—
my fractured mind was the
perfectly unsuspecting host.
i was so ashamed of life
& you had all the answers.
"don't let me go,"
she hissed each night,
coating my flesh in a
despondent cancer.
(it was just too damn easy
to grasp your viral hands.)
i know my ribcage is almost on empty
& my heart is converting to toxic waste,
but i still have a feverish serum in my veins
& a voice not yet conquered by broken bones.
your plague of malevolence
shall never govern me again.
Literature
But I will.
Fight me.
I promise not to fight back.
I promise to smile, I promise to laugh.
I promise to be nice
Even if it's a sacrifice.
I promise to be strong
Even when you treat me wrong.
Because I've learned how to deal with ignorance
Better than you've learned how to use it.
And I promise to smile, and promise to laugh.
Yes, I promise.
I won't (but I will) fight back.

Mabon
there are dead leaves
sprouting from her amber spine,
reaching with child-fingers
to devour the sun.
her skin is freezing,
seeping winter through
november pores.
seeking warmth,
the whiskey tongues
of godless boys
wish to decipher
the atlas of her thighs.
counting the sleepy fireflies
alight in her lungs- there is
wanderlust churning & warming
her frostbitten heartstrings.
swinging pendulum hips,
"I am the tease of autumn flames.
I breathe in mint sunsets,
& gasoline dreams."

here is a love story
in quiet words:
she pressed her hands to my heart
and her palms came away
dusty.

This is a very good and well-written poem. I can honestly say that I decided to read this because of its originality - this is a common subject handled in a way that I don't see all that often. Considering how awful prion diseases are, I hope I never meet this woman myself.
Some of the imagery in the last stanza is lost on me though. I'm not sure what you mean by the feverish serum in your veins - is that your own will that you're try to assert? And the ribcage line is going over my head. The rest of it is good and clear though.
