i carve insignificant poetry into my tongue
and hope the world will pardon the lack of
bated silence, for i write in nothing but
despondent screams and uppercase;
i've forgotten how to let everything go
and i'm tired of my incessant howling,
because it seems to me that the quiet
words are the ones that are the most
heard.

Trying something a bit different to work through my ever-present writer's block.

I honestly don't like writing in nothing but lowercase because to me, I want my poetry to scream. Yet, as I'm finally realizing...it's the most simple and quiet words that really seem to be the most boisterous.

I think I'm going to try lowercase more often. After all, my style is always changing. It couldn't hurt.

I love how honest this is. You can see in some of my work I switch between different capitalizations. I use lowercase in the poems that are quiet and I alternate depending on what I want to sound like, I suppose.

This is truly beautiful. I wish I sounded like this in my writer's block haha.

This is just lovely. <3

I can never bring myself to write poetry in lower case, or without proper punctuation, like I've seen some poets on this site do. My grammar Nazi side just goes a little insane.

My grammar Nazi side was smacking me when I wrote this going "NO USE UPPERCASE" and I was like "IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE AESTHETICALLY PLEASING DAMMIT."

Our grammar Nazi sides just don't like us being free people. We are forever chained, binded by our overriding will to spell and use grammar correctly.

Which is good, I suppose.

i'm so used to seeing my works all done in lowercase, to see it brought to the forefront of attention was certainly something special.

your words are delicious, and i can understand your desire for this to be read low and slow. it's an amazing message. well done.

I always write in lowercase poetry; I'm not sure why, but it seems more passive, more emotional to me. :p I...really, don't have a reason too, and it's rather annoying sometimes due to my occasional grammar Nazi tendencies.

There's something very unique about lowercase vs. uppercase. It reminds me of how some religions (Christianity for sure) have "god" in uppercase, while all other religions' gods have to be in lowercase, for respect of their deity. So, to me, having a lowercase "i" is almost like submitting to others who so boldly put it as a capital. :la: I dunno~

The lowercase ones always seem to be the ones with the most heart...as long as everything else is grammatically correct and spelled properly. I'm an ber grammar Nazi. ^^;

The grammar Nazi inside of me should be screaming: "PUNCTUATION" but she doesn't do so because I know 100% of the time you write with correct everything.

So I think this poem really speaks out in a way that's not too abstract. It really brings a calming-yet assertive tone. Well, that's what I think it does.

this seems like a nice change of pace for you. I prefer reading poetry written in all lowercase,
it just seems so much more poignant to me.

I like reading lowercase, but it doesn't feel right when I write it. However, I want to try and have a go at it more often now. I think it's a good change of pace, as you said.
